There is joy in movement. There is power in movement. There is life in movement.
For so long, I looked at moving my body as a way to change it. To shrink it. To make it smaller.
I spent decades ingesting the harmful diet culture messaging that led me down a road of punishing myself with exercise and depriving myself of nourishment.
That is why I was so thrilled to partner with adidas because this newest collection with Universal Standard is a collaboration for ALL OF US. AS WE ARE. From sizes 2XS-4XL (that’s 00-40) this marriage of brands shows what can happen when people of influence create a way for all people to enjoy movement and feel beautiful.
There is just something so freeing about this TRULY inclusive collection. It’s saying, “we invite you to move your body however you please, there is no prerequisite that it must result in weight loss. We just want you to feel good while you’re doing it.”
And that’s exactly how I felt taking my new adidas x Universal Standard pieces for a walk down the beach at sunrise. And a bike ride back home. And a stretch after. And a dance in the kitchen. And to work at my desk. And to pick up my kids at school. Because let’s be honest, 80% of the time I am rocking that ‘athleisure’ look ALL DAY whether I am getting ready to intentionally move my body for physical exercise, or just because it is the most comfortable thing to wear!
I absolutely fell in love with the bodysuit. It was long enough for my torso and had just the right amount of compression. The fabric was nice and thick, but still breathable and moisture wicking. I received both the blue and black bodysuits in a 2x and they are very true to size for my size 18/20 body. I always love knotting my tops, and this white long sleeve was no exception (I got this in a 1XL, but would size up because I like my tops more loose). It paired perfectly with the 7/8 tights that were equal parts stretch, and compression, making everything feel secure without feeling restricting. (Also a size 2XL)
As the body positive movement continues to be co-opted by brands that aren’t actually offering fashion for all, it is absolutely important to me that when I do share brands that I love, all of my followers have an opportunity to find an outfit that fits in their size, too, and this collab with adidas and Universal Standard does it! You can use all the shoppable links in this blog post to shop my outfits, or find others that you might love to get your body moving in!
Just do you babes
